A small favor for her werewolf boyfriend, Jason, puts vampire hunter Anita Blake in Jean Claude's direct line of sight - while an ancient vampire queen uses Anita to claw her way back to the top....

The 16th installment of Laurell K Hamilton's best-selling series, Blood Noir will have fans thirsty for more!

Kushiel's Legacy

By far my favorite story is from Jacqueline Carey, who writes the Kushiel's Series shown above.

While not necessarily a vampire story, if you are at all into BDSM, you'll love these books! Told from the perspective of a true Anguisette, Kushiel finds sexual pleasure in pain, and is the epitome of submissiveness. Yet she's a strong woman - smart, cultured, and admired by all.

Taking place in a fantasy alternate reality, it's a book you won't be able to put down!

Anthologies

I love anthologies - collections of short stories - and I usually read them in between series, to "cleanse the palette" between courses. They're also a great way to find new authors! Here are a few for you which are already on my shelf....

Vampire PornStars

Here's something a little different for you...

OK, the "Vampire Detective" thing is getting a little old, but Mario Acevedo has actually put a new spin on it, with a returning Gulf War vet who comes back as a Vampire. He manages to give us a good behind-the-scenes look at a what it means to be a vampire in his world, and does so with a sarcastic smirk. Good stuff!

the Dresden Files

I found these almost by accident, and now own all ten books in the series. Again, they're not specifically Vampire Books, but they are supernatural detective stories, and damned fun to read. Jim Butcher was one of the first to delve into this genre, and is still one of the best at it!

Occult Suspense

Here's another not-quite-vampire series which I found enjoyable. The main character discovers that she has shamanic powers, and uses them to battle evil wherever she finds it. Which is to say - everywhere.

A great debut from CE Murphy, I'm sure you'll enjoy them!

A Werewolf Story

This story definitely has vampires in it! They play an ever-present role, and I particularly like where Patricia Briggs goes with their story line. Sometimes you can find good vampire stuff in books about werewolves!
