Featured Book I can't speak highly enough about this book! I just found it and flew through it in one sitting, and you can bet I'll be buying all of them soon. See, nobody reigns over the undead with more savvy than heroine Betsy Taylor, back to rule the nights as Vampire Queen–and survive the days as a new suburban bride. But it’s not all marital bliss. Betsy’s husband, Sinclair, has been perusing The Book of the Dead, Betsy’s being hounded by a ghost who’s even more insufferable in death than in life, and a pack of formerly feral vampires has decided to pay an unwelcome visit… It's laugh-out-loud funny, sexy, and one of the best vampire stories I've come across in quite a while! The undisputed queen of Vampire Literature, Laurell K Hamilton has been one of my faves for a long time. If you've read her, you know what I mean. If you haven't, well, what are you waiting for? Here are the first and last two of her Anita Blake series; most notably, Blood Noir, which I absolutely adored! It's only been out for a few months - if you don't have it, GET IT NOW! Sheesh. |

By far my favorite story is from Jacqueline Carey, who writes the Kushiel's Series shown above. While not necessarily a vampire story, if you are at all into BDSM, you'll love these books! Told from the perspective of a true Anguisette, Kushiel finds sexual pleasure in pain, and is the epitome of submissiveness. Yet she's a strong woman - smart, cultured, and admired by all. Taking place in a fantasy alternate reality, it's a book you won't be able to put down!

I love anthologies - collections of short stories - and I usually read them in between series, to "cleanse the palette" between courses. They're also a great way to find new authors! Here are a few for you which are already on my shelf....

Here's something a little different for you... OK, the "Vampire Detective" thing is getting a little old, but Mario Acevedo has actually put a new spin on it, with a returning Gulf War vet who comes back as a Vampire. He manages to give us a good behind-the-scenes look at a what it means to be a vampire in his world, and does so with a sarcastic smirk. Good stuff!

I found these almost by accident, and now own all ten books in the series. Again, they're not specifically Vampire Books, but they are supernatural detective stories, and damned fun to read. Jim Butcher was one of the first to delve into this genre, and is still one of the best at it!

Here's another not-quite-vampire series which I found enjoyable. The main character discovers that she has shamanic powers, and uses them to battle evil wherever she finds it. Which is to say - everywhere. A great debut from CE Murphy, I'm sure you'll enjoy them! |

This story definitely has vampires in it! They play an ever-present role, and I particularly like where Patricia Briggs goes with their story line. Sometimes you can find good vampire stuff in books about werewolves! |

This series of movies has been amongst my favorite since I saw the first one! And they just keep getting better.... OK, I know it has nothing to do with Vampires, but this time of year, I thought it was á propos. Make sure you have all of them! |
